NATIONAL DEBT

The current status of our national debt is not sustainable. Congress must take serious steps to reduce the debt burden and balance the budget.

As of December 1, 2016, the official debt of the United States government is $19.9 trillion ($19,901,545,151,127). This amounts to:

  • $61,229 for every person living in the U.S.
  • $158,176 for every household in the U.S.
  • 107% of the U.S. gross domestic product.
  • 559% of annual federal revenues.
